Kit Bland is a writer & filmmaker residing in Brooklyn, New York. He spent most of the spring of 2010 inside the Arctic Circle, working on the feature film "On the Ice" in Barrow, Alaska, the northernmost town in the United States. Prior to that he was first assistant director on a feature film shot in Beirut, Lebanon, followed by the series "Chasing Mummies," shot entirely in Egypt and airing on the History Channel. In the summer of 2009, Kit produced the short film "The Line" by writer-director Joe Petrilla, which starred veteran screen actor James Rebhorn. He also co-produced the feature film adaptation of "The Aspern Papers," directed by Mariana Hellmund and shot in the Venezuelan jungle. In 2008 Kit produced the short films "Slipaway", which premiered at the 2009 Kent Film Festival, for writer-director Michael McDermott, and "Through the Door" for writer-director Yelena Demikovsky. In 2007, he was associate producer on "Daylight," the second feature from writer-director David Barker. Kit has been first assistant director on dozens of commercials, documentaries, music videos, as well as the feature films "May the Best Man Win," "El Camino," and "Handsome Harry," which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Kit’s original feature script "High, Low, & In Between" made the officially-unnamed second round of selections in the 2009 Sundance Writer’s Lab. "Killing the Jackalope," a feature he co-wrote with Karl Shefelman, is slated to go into production in 2010. His non-fiction manuscript about working on film sets, "Rolling! From PA to Producer", is represented by the Warner Literary Group. Kit is also an open and affirming wedding officiant, and unlicensed canoeing guide.
